Sports awards

In November each year Blues, Club Service and Maroon Awards are presented to students in recognition of sporting achievements throughout the year. The Murdoch Sports Vikings Leadership Group are responsible for judging and voting for the recipients of each of these awards.

  • Blues Awards

Blues are the highest tribute Murdoch Sports can pay to outstanding student athletes over the previous 12 months. Award nominees will be judged on their:

    • high standard of sports ability
    • service to their chosen sport
    • attitude and commitment.

Nominations can be submitted by sports clubs or peers.

  • Club Service Award

Club Service is awarded to students who have shown dedication to their club over many years.

To be eligible for this award you must have:

    • been a club administrator such as coach, manager, or events co-ordinator
    • been a member of the club for at least two years
    • been a student at the time
    • participated in interclub or intervarsity competitions.

Nominations can be submitted by a club representative.

  • Elite Athlete Award

The purpose of the award is to honour a Murdoch University student who has excelled in sport, study and engagement with Murdoch University.

Nominations can be submitted by students registered with the Elite Athlete Program.

  • Maroon Award

The Maroon Award is presented to the sportsperson of the year.

The Maroon Award recipient is the most outstanding sportsperson attending Murdoch for the year and must have exhibited moral force of character, leadership and an interest in their fellow Murdoch sportspersons.

Nominations can be submitted by a club representative.

Awards night

The awards night is a formal dress event which is held in week 14 of semester 2 each year.

Tickets are available in September each year and are open for anyone to attend. Numbers are limited.
