Partnering with the WACA
We are proud to be the first tertiary education provider to partner with the Western Australian Cricket Association (WACA) to benefit both our students and the community.
The WACA is the governing body of cricket in Western Australia, overseeing the development of the game throughout metro, rural and regional areas in the State. The WACA strives to be a leader in Australian sport, while helping achieve the national vision of cricket being Australia’s favourite sport and a sport for all Australians.
Our partnership offers many collaborative opportunities for Murdoch and the WACA through:
- knowledge sharing
- work integrated learning
- student development and employability opportunities.
The WACA provides Murdoch students with opportunities to volunteer at coaching clinics and school programs, as well as casual employment opportunities through student work placements at the WACA.
Sports science research in action
Through the partnership, our sports science research is helping the WACA’s elite cricketers:
- improve their efficiency and speed when running between the wickets
- fine-tune their batting and bowling actions
- conserve energy
- help players to refine their actions to avoid injury.
