VLS Announcements 159 - 13 October 2017

Dear Colleagues,

It is with much sadness that I write to advise you of the passing, last Sunday 8 October, of Emeritus Professor Arthur McComb. Our thoughts go out to Emeritus Professor Jennifer McComb and their family. Arthur’s funeral service is open to the public and will be held at Karrakatta Cemetery on Saturday, 14 October at 10 am. Condolences may be left online.

There will be an article about Arthur’s life and achievements in an upcoming Staff Announcements. If anyone would like to contribute their memories of Emeritus Professor McComb to the article, please contact Pepi Smyth 9360 1289. The development office have put together a few words about his life in the attached document.

    We are now advertising to fill the Chevron Harry Butler Chair in Biosecurity and Environmental Science, the position advert is available online.

  • Students as Change Agents in Learning and Teaching (SCALT)

    The Students As Change Agents in Learning and Teaching (SCALT) program will return in 2018. Students receive a generous honorarium plus project expenses to lead a project in learning and teaching. This primarily a student-lead initiative but staff are encouraged to engage with the program as potential mentors. EoIs will be due 24th November 2017. For details see

  • Research Professional Workshops - A Data Base for Funding Opportunities

    Research Professional Staff will be visiting Murdoch on the 31st October to deliver half hour training sessions to get you started using Research Professional. This is open to all Murdoch staff and students

    The University subscribes to Research Professional, providing you with access to a comprehensive database of funding opportunities in all disciplines from a wide range of funders in Australia and overseas. Once you have customised your account, you need never hunt for funding again! The system is easy to use, flexible and new funding alerts can be automated.
