VLS Announcements 143 - 23 June 2017

Dear Colleagues,

Steve Beatty presented the final public lecture in the “healthy Futures” series this week on the topic “What’s Lurking in our Inland Waterways”. Thank you Steve for sharing your research with the community.

As you would be aware, planning for the 2017 Open Day is well underway. Thank you to everyone who has already put their hand up to support the School on the day. This week you would have received an email asking you to register for Open Day. Please can you ensure that you register along with any students that will be assisting you on the day? Registration will ensure that you received a Murdoch t-shirt, lunch room entry and invitation to the thank you function. Any questions about Open Day should be directed to Mhairi Finlayson.

Kind regards,

David Hampson
Dean, School of Veterinary and Life Sciences.

Submissions for the announcements can be made by emailing Mhairi Finlayson COB each Tuesday for publication Thursday

  • New 'VLS Dean' email address - streamlining of Dean's office 'signing' process - message from Sarah Gillet

Our Dean of School receives a significant amount of documentation each week requiring his review or signoff, both from within the School and from other areas of the University.

In an effort to reduce some of the Dean’s email load and to help streamline the process for documentation review/signing requests received by the Dean’s office I have created a new email address called: VLS Dean

Can I please ask from now onwards, if you have documentation that requires review and or signoff by David as Dean, can you please direct it to this new email above?

As David’s PA, I can then monitor all documentation coming to our office for review (which I do anyway usually, but this removes the need for the person to send to David, David to send to me, then me to respond back to the person on his behalf after David and I have spoken etc. etc.).

This will not only mean a significantly quicker turnaround time, it will also ensure all documentation coming through our office is assessed, actioned and if required filed appropriately.

This includes requests for review and signature on the following types of documentation:

    • HR related forms
    • Probation and Promotion related documentation
    • APDR documentation
    • Human Ethics Forms
    • Adjunct Appointment paperwork
    • State Government Forms (DAFWA, Fisheries, WA Police)
    • Letters of Support
    • Memorandums

I am sure there will be other types of documentation that I have forgotten, but I think the list above covers the majority of it for now.

If anyone has queries or concerns with any of this information please do not hesitate to contact me.

  • New Key & Cylinder Pricing

Murdoch University current key suppliers (Abloy Protec 2) have issued their new pricing list. To account for the increased cost of keys from the supplier and GST, the key deposit for the keys issued will be increased to $45 per key. The new pricing will be effective as of the 1st July 2017.
