1. Academic
I am unhappy with my final unit result
In the first instance, you should contact your Unit Coordinator or nominated staff member in the event a Unit Coordinator is not available. This is a time to discuss your final result and also to view your examination script.
As per 8.1.9 of the Assessment Policy: All students have the right to view and discuss assessment results with a member of teaching staff at previously advised specified times.
If you are still not satisfied, you may then consider lodging a formal request for a review/re-mark OR consider lodging an formal appeal against a final unit result (subject to meeting the valid grounds).
I am seeking a re-view or re-mark of my examination and/or assessment
For information on this procedure, refer to section 11.9 of the Assessment Policy.
I have been excluded from a program and/or University
Refer to Clauses 1.33-1.42 of the Coursework Regulations. In addition Postgraduate students should also refer to clause 4.12.
Should you wish to apply for continued enrolment, please complete the Application for Continued Enrolment Online Application form and submit it to The Student Centre.
I have been falsely accused of misconduct and/or I think the penalty applied was too harsh
For information regarding the procedures, refer to Statute No. 26 - Student Misconduct and the Student Discipline Regulations.
I am unhappy with supervision in an honours or research degree programme
For students undertaking an research thesis in a Bachelor or Coursework masters degree, follow the procedure as set out within the Honours Policy.
For Postgraduate research students, follow the procedures as set out in the Postgraduate Research Degrees Regulations.
I have a conscientious objection to a teaching assessment or practice
Note: Students should be aware that if the practice has already been undertaken, it is not possible to lodge a complaint or an appeal.

I wish to lodge a complaint about the teaching and assessment policies, procedures or standards within a unit
In the first instance, you should contact your Unit Coordinator to discuss your complaint. If you are still dissatisfied, you may contact the School Dean first or the Pro Vice Chancellor if that approach is unsuccessful.
If you wish to remain anonymous, you may also contact the Student Guild.
I wish to lodge a complaint about the content or structure of an academic course
Students should contact the School Dean to discuss their concerns.
I am unhappy with the result of my Doctoral, Masters or Honours thesis examination
In the first instance, students should contact the Postgraduate Director in their respective Faculty or the Dean of Graduate Studies to discuss their result. If they still remain dissatisfied, students may consider lodging a formal appeal (subject to meeting the valid grounds).
2. Administrative
Fees
I believe that I have been charged the wrong tuition fee
Students should submit their complaint in writing to the Fees Office via My Answers.
If this matter is not resolved at this level, students may lodge a formal complaint in writing to the Director, Student Life and Learning within 14 days of receiving advice from the Fees Office.
I wish to dispute a fee applied or an incorrect notice
Students should submit their complaint in writing to the Fees Office via My Answers.
Fines
I wish to dispute my Library fine
Follow the procedures as set out in the Library’s Client Service Charter web page.
I wish to dispute my parking and/or traffic fine
Follow the procedures as set out within the Campus Services – Parking – Penalties web page.
Admission/Enrolment
I have been denied admission and/or enrolment
If you have been denied admission, you may submit your complaint in writing to the General Manager, International or Domestic Recruitment via AskMurdoch.
I have been denied transfer to a restricted course
In the first instance, students should contact the Academic Chair to discuss their concern. If the student is not satisfied, they may lodge a formal appeal to the Student Appeals Committee.
I have been denied transfer to a course that is not restricted
Students should submit their complaint in writing to the Enrolments Office via My Answers.
If the student is not satisfied, they may lodge a formal appeal to the Student Appeals Committee.
I have been denied transfer from an international place to a domestic full fee/Commonwealth supported place
Students should submit their complaint in writing to the Enrolments Office via My Answers.
If the student is not satisfied, they may lodge a formal appeal to the Student Appeals Committee.
I have an enrolment error
Students should submit their complaint in writing to the Student Center via My Answers in the first instance. If they are not satisfied with the outcome of this process, they may then submit their complaint in writing to the Director Student Life and Learning. If the matter is still unresolved, a student may submit their complaint to the DVC (Academic) who will only review procedure.
I wish to lodge a complaint about not being accepted into a unit subject to quota
In the first instance, students should contact their Unit Coordinator to discuss their concern. If the student is not satisfied, they may submit their concern in writing to the Dean of the School.
I have been excluded because I have reached the maximum period of enrolment
In the first instance you should contact the Academic Chair and discuss your concern. If the matter is still unresolved, a student may submit their complaint in writing to the Dean of the School.
3. Equity
I was not provided adequate accommodations in accordance with reasonable requirements for my disability or medical condition
Students should submit their complaint in writing to the Manager, Equity and Social Inclusion in the first instance. If they are not satisfied with the outcome of this process, they may then submit their complaint in writing to the Director Student Life and Learning. If the matter is still unresolved, a student may submit their complaint to the DVC (Academic) who will only review procedure.

4. Resources
I have a complaint about access to Library services
For information regarding the procedures, refer to the Library’s Client Service Charter OR students may contact an Equity Officer to facilitate the process.
I have a complaint about access to IT services
For information regarding the procedures, refer to the IT Service Desk web page.
5. Other
I have a complaint about authorship/intellectual property
Students should, in the first instance, discuss their complaint with the Director, Research Management and Operations.
I have a complaint about an area/issue not listed above
In the first instance complaints should be made to the supervisor of the area concerned or made in writing to the Director, Student Life and Learning.
