THE286: History of the Church II: Reformation to Modern (Not available in 2010)

Examines the crisis of sixteenth-century Europe that produced the Reformation and the split of Western Christianity into Protestant and Catholic. Particular attention will be paid to the various churches of the Protestant and Catholic Reformations. Looks at how those two traditions developed from the sixteenth century until the late-twentieth century in Europe, the United States, Africa, Asia and the Pacific. Introduces various movements within the modern period that impacted on the Church, including the Enlightenment, various revival movements, and totalitarianism.
