STP303: Sustainability and Social Justice: The Non Profit Sector

Non-profit organisations play an important role in building resilient communities, social justice advocacy and service provision in Australia and internationally. This unit will explore the varied roles this 'Third Sector' plays in delivering sustainability and social justice and will address issues of efficacy, funding, philanthropy, representation, the blurring of the boundaries between government, business and civil society.

Murdoch: S2-internal, S2-external

Contact Time

Lectures: 2 hours per week; tutorials: 1 hour per week.
Students are also required to attend three 2 hour workshops throughout the semester.

Prerequisites

Nil.
Co-requisite: Internet access if studying externally.

Exclusions

Students who have successfully completed STP303/503 Local Governance may not enrol in this unit.
