STP240: Special Topics in Sustainable Development: The Future in a Time of Crisis

We are currently experiencing a global crisis with multiple dimensions including economic meltdown, shifting internal power structures, global warming and peak oil.  This transdisciplinary unit argues that we need to understand the crisis as a total process, and develop skills to respond effectively to the challenges it presents.  Accordingly, this unit will present a raft of analytical methodologies derived from futures studies which will be applied to aspects of the crisis, both separately and synergistically.
