POL613: Gender and Development (Not available in 2010)

This unit examines theories and debates that frame research, policy and practice in relation to gender and development. Issues covered include: sex, gender  and the status of women; gender divisions of labour and identity; 'First' and 'Third World' feminisms; men and masculinities; families and households; health and HIV/AIDS, violence; gender mainstreaming and gender justice.
