POL505: Politics of Neoliberalism (Not available in 2010)

The political rise of neo-liberalism in the 1970's set a new agenda for globalisation. Examine the ideas, interests and organisations that underpin this new juggernaut and the ways in which it has come into conflict with other models of economic and political development. Did the Asian economic crisis result in the victory of the neo-liberal agenda? How has the attack on the Trade Towers and the US war on terrorism effected the balance of power in the globalisation process?
