Introduction to the concepts of security, terrorism and counterterrorism. This unit examines the changing perceptions of security from military force to human security and security in cyberspace. It explains how terrorism undermines human security, subverts societal values, and threatens the society's critical infrastructure. It also analyses the relationship between terrorism and religious tolerance, democracy and international law. It finally examines the phenomena of rogue states and weapons of mass destruction and how international society is expected to address them.
