POL133: Introduction to Politics

This unit provides an introduction to the three core areas of the discipline of political science: concepts and ideologies; comparative political institutions; and international relations.    It has two aims: to provide students with an overview of the discipline, and to equip them with the conceptual and theoretical tools to begin analysing contemporary political problems, such as the relationship between security and freedom; the role of international organisations in tackling global issues; and the dynamics underlying globalisation.

Prerequisites	Nil. Co-requisite: Internet access if studying externally.
Exclusions	Students who have successfully completed S133 Introduction to Politics may not enrol in this unit for credit.
