PHA642: Pharmacy Practice II

Commencement of therapeutic decision-making, promoting and contributing to optimal use of medicines. Emphasis on over-the-counter prescribing and the role of the pharmacist as a primary health provider. Providing supportive medication information; provision of professional services; systematic dispensing techniques, record maintenance. Focus on importance of good communication skills and counselling; introduction to medicine management and dose administration aids. Review inappropriate use of medications and drug abuse, and current existing regimes for treating opioid drug addiction through pharmacist's involvement.
