PHA533: Pharmacology I (Not available in 2010)

Principles of pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics. Pharmacokinetics examines the movement of a drug over time through the body, aiming to develop an ability to utilise and interpret scientific data (half life, protein binding and volume of distribution) and to calculate values (dosage or creatinine clearance) and thus predict accurate dosages. Pharmacodynamics examines the influence of drug concentrations on the magnitude of drug response, dealing with the interaction of drugs with receptors, their molecular consequences and their effects in the living organism.
