PEC591: Energy Policy

The objective of this unit is to provide an understanding of the policy processes and institutions that give rise to the shape, direction and outcomes in the energy sector. The sources of energy policy objectives are explored and the range of policy instruments to achieve objectives is outlined. These objectives and instruments approach are then applied in the areas of fossil fuel policy, nuclear energy, the global environment, renewable energy, and energy sustainability.

Lectures/tutorials: 2 hours per week.

Prerequisites

Enrolment in Honours or Postgraduate-level courses.
Recommended: PEC492/PEC592 Energy in Society.
Co-requisite: Internet access if studying externally.

Notes

PgCertEnSt, PgDipEnSt and MSc (Renewable Energy) students should enrol in the higher-level version of this unit.
