PEC349: Molecular Design

A variety of approaches to the design of molecules will be introduced. Topics: Organic synthesis, biosynthesis, drug design principles, and aspects of nanotechnology. The content of the unit will be of interest to students in wide ranging disciplines where knowledge of molecular design and the behaviour of synthesised molecules in biological systems are relevant. Such disciplines include organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, drug discovery, biological and biomedical sciences, environmental science, forensics, bioprocess engineering, biotechnology and nanoscience.
