PEC292: Energy in Society

This is a unit about energy sources and how they are utilised to produce power for human society. It is based on a multidisciplinary approach and covers patterns of consumption; energy conversion technology; environmental and social impacts; conventional and alternative sources; energy conservation and options for future energy supplies.

Prerequisites	PEC120 Introduction to Physics or PEC152 Principles of Physics. Co-requisite: Internet access if studying externally.
Notes	PgCertEnSt, PgDipEnSt and MSc (Renewable Energy) students should enrol in the higher-level version of this unit (PEC592).
