PEC240: Analytical Chemistry

Determining the chemical constituents of complex solutions, foods, materials and soil samples all require the use of analytical chemical techniques. This unit will provide students with a sound grasp of the fundamental principles underlying modern analytical chemistry and provides insight into techniques such as spectroscopy, chromatography, volumetric and gravimetric analysis, and sample presentation. Students will be trained in laboratory techniques that are frequently used in chemical, environmental, and forensic analysis, enabling them to solve practical analytical problems in many contexts.
