PEC123: Astronomy (Not available in 2010)

This unit is designed to be an introduction to practical astronomy for people who are interested in discovering more about the night sky. It includes a discussion of the fundamentals of modern practical astronomy; telescopes; the solar system, including comets and asteroids; stars and galaxies. Students are also introduced to ways in which non professional astronomers can contribute to astronomical research. Practical work consists of night time observing sessions and reports.
