PEC103: Introduction to Forensic Science

This unit provides an introduction to the physical, chemical and biological techniques of forensic science with particular emphasis on 'crime scene' practices that precede laboratory studies, and stressing the interdisciplinary approach, attention to detail and presentation of evidence required in professional forensic activities. The unit makes extensive use of guest lectures from forensic science professionals working in the community to provide a 'real world' perspective on the material.

Lectures/tutorials/workshops: up to 4 hours per week to provide for 'hands-on' workshops or for guest lecturers plus follow-up sessions.

Prerequisites

Nil.

Exclusions

Students who have successfully completed PEC235 Forensic Science may not enrol in this unit for credit.
