NUR513: Advanced Mental Health Nursing Practice (Not available in 2010)

Advanced practitioner skills required for nursing assessment and intervention for the mental health client. The student will negotiate for one or more mental health specialties of their choice in order to practice and self-evaluate their advanced mental health nursing. Compare and contrast theories in mental health nursing treatment and management and determine how these are best facilitated by advanced mental health nurses. Critically examine contemporary and past mental health nursing practice with a view to applying best practice.

Negotiated supernumerary practica: 1 day per week ; two block practica of 5 days each to a total of 36 days; scheduled clinical practice workshops and reflective tutorials: 2 hours per week.
