MID606: New Directions; Healthy for Life (Not available in 2010)

This unit is based on developing health approaches in a primary health care context. Students will develop an understanding of the provision of education, training and support on population health approaches to maternal and child health, thus reducing the incidence of chronic adult disease. Good maternal health is fundamental to good health outcomes for children, thus students will explore the importance and provision of antenatal care with particular focus on Indigenous women and marginalised and disadvantaged non-Indigenous women.
