MID502: Family and Cultural Community Midwifery Care (Not available in 2010)

Students will develop an understanding of the complexity of the environment, highlighting the centrality of the relationship with the woman in the provision of care. Discussion will explore the impact of the place of birth on women, describing the key competencies required for practising midwifery. Understanding that birth is a normal physiological process, students will develop skills and knowledge to work within a model of practice to deliver a midwifery partnership based on cultural safety, sensitivity and awareness.
