MCC356: Sexuality, Bodies and Culture
This unit aims to provide a conceptual foundation for participating critically in debates about embodiment and corporeality. Students are introduced to a range of contemporary and historical ideas concerning the intersection of culture and embodiment, and weekly topics focus on both everyday experiences of 'having a body' (such as sexuality, gender, age and representations in popular culture), and formal knowledge-making about bodies (such as medicine, biotechnology and genetics).
