MCC232: Video Game Studies

The interactive digital game has become a worldwide phenomenon, and is now recognised as an important economic, aesthetic and cultural form. In this unit students examine a range of game types, from the closed microworlds of console games to the modifiable and networked PC game. The unit explores existing game genres and interface design, new conceptual and technical innovations in game development, the emerging field of ludology or game studies, and issues relating to interactivity and gameplay in simulated environments.

Exclusions	Students who have successfully completed MCC232 Games and Future Technologies may not enrol in this unit for credit.
