MBS672: International Business Enterprise Development

Provides business managers with cross-cultural skills and knowledge to establish productive business relationships in China or the Middle East and to establish and manage business ventures for foreign companies operating in these regions. Topics: commercial negotiating styles; bargaining strategies; cultivating trust, building influence networks; decision-making processes; contracts; business customs, etiquette; conflict; market entry modes; levels of government for approvals and licenses; joint venture partner selection; joint venture negotiations, structures, staffing and control; and political systems and structures.

Contact Time

Lectures/seminars/workshops: 6 hours (2 x 3 hours) per week in winter term at Murdoch Campus.

Prerequisites

Enrolment in the MBA in International Business.

Notes

Half of this unit is taught in China, therefore students must be aware of Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) travel advisories prior to their departure by checking the following link: http://www.
smartraveller.
gov.
au Where the intended overseas location has a high level travel advisory in place the student can opt not to travel to that destination.
Instead they can seek alternative arrangements as determined by the Academic Chair and approved by the Dean of School.
All students must complete the University's online Travel Register prior to departure.
