MBS621: Advanced Statistics Seminar (Not available in 2010)

This unit emphasises the practical application of statistical ideas and methods by focusing on the systematic collection of information, quantitative analysis and the construction of valid conclusions. It embraces the differing methodologies necessary for research projects based on archival data, field work and laboratory based experiments. Issues: problem identification; measurement error; the design of experiments; types of variation; sampling; questionnaire design; statistical analysis, and the presentation of results. A hands-on approach illustrates the routine application of methodology in simple applications.
