MBS606: Strategic Decision-Making

This capstone unit assumes a senior management perspective and is concerned with the overall strategies, objectives and policies of the organisation. Topics include strategy analysis, formulation, implementation and evaluation; strategic portfolio, risk and diversification; organisational structure and systems in strategy making; organisational culture; fragmented, emerging, mature, and declining industry environments; and managing strategic change and organisational renewal. There will also be a strong focus on the global competitiveness of companies, industries and nations.

Contact Time	Lectures/seminars/workshops: 3 hours per week for semester 2. Lectures/seminars/workshops: 6 hours (2 x 3 hours) per week for summer term.
Prerequisites	Enrolment in postgraduate level studies. It is recommended that students complete MBS513 Accounting for Managers, MBS507 Marketing Management, and MBS508 Organisational Behaviour and Management before attempting this unit. Co-requisite: Internet access if studying externally.
Exclusions	Students who have successfully completed C559 Strategic Management may not enrol in this unit for credit.
