MBS593: Chinese Economy

China, one of the largest economies in the world, is forecast to become Australia's largest trading partner. This unit examines the success of current government policies in terms of the provision of life's necessities to the Chinese people and the target of becoming a major industrial power in the twenty-first century. It analyses the financial system, trade and foreign economic relations, labour markets, as well as the problems and opportunities facing Australian and other foreign companies doing business with China.

Enrolment Options

Murdoch: W-internal, W-external

Contact Time

Lectures/seminars/workshops: 6 hours (2 x 3 hours) per week for winter term.

Prerequisites

Enrolment in a postgraduate-level course.
No knowledge of the Chinese language is required for this unit.
Co-requisite: Internet access if studying externally.

Exclusions

Students who have completed H293/H479 Chinese Economy may not enrol in this unit for credit.
