MBS513: Accounting for Managers

Provides the basic understanding of accounting required in other postgraduate units and in management practice in the world of business. The coverage is comprehensive and user-oriented, with emphasis placed on the accounting information needs of managers. This unit provides a practical understanding of how to analyse some of the information that can be obtained from the accounting system to assist in management decision-making. It will also provide students with an understanding of how external financial statements are prepared.

Contact Time	Lectures/seminars/workshops: 3 hours per week.
Prerequisites	Enrolment in a postgraduate-level course. Students in C1083 Postgraduate Certificate in Business Administration (Masterclass) will be enrolled in MBS5132 Accounting for Managers. Co-requisite: Internet access if studying externally.
Exclusions	Students cannot enrol in both MBS5132 Accounting for Managers and MBS513 Accounting for Managers for credit.
