MAS261: Mathematical Methods
Real problems often involve a number of variables that depend on time (a vector function), or a single function that depends on many variables (a function of several variables), or a combination of both. Linear algebra and multivariable calculus are branches of mathematics essential for dealing with such real-world problems. The linear algebra section considers techniques for using matrices (and the theory underpinning it). Multivariable calculus basics including vector calculus, multiple, line and surface integrals will be covered.

| Exclusions | Students may not enrol in this unit and either of MAS164 Fundamentals of Mathematics or MAS182 Applied Mathematics concurrently.
