LLM563: Employment Relations Law (Not available in 2010)

Examines the legal regulation of the relationship between employer and employees in Australia. Reviews the contract of employment before focusing on the Federal industrial relations system, locating it in its constitutional context and examining the nature of statutory regulation of industrial relations. Topics: roles of the Australian Industrial Relations Commission and the Employment Advocate, enterprise bargaining, control of industrial action and unfair dismissal. Western Australian law and practice, occupational health and safety provisions and workers' compensation legislation are briefly considered.
