LLM525: Comparative Law

This unit introduces students to the methodology of comparative law and to the basic structures and principles of selected major legal systems. It will concentrate on the main characteristics of the civil law system, as exemplified by German and French law. Students will be introduced to a comparative approach of studying law, enabling them to draw useful conclusions for their future legal career.

| Exclusions | LLM students who have completed an equivalent unit as part of their undergraduate degree may not enrol in this unit for credit.

| Notes | The SP8 enrolment option for this unit is offered as part of the European Summer Program in Law, hosted at the University of Macerata, Italy.
Enrolment in this program is by application to the program Director, and applications require payment of a non-refundable deposit.
Students enrolling in the program are responsible for their own airfares, accommodation and incidental expenses during the program.
