LLM505: Native Title Law (Not available in 2010)

A comprehensive examination of the native title system: the concept of native title as developed in various common law jurisdictions, including Canada, United States and New Zealand; the meaning of native title in these jurisdictions compared with Australia; the legislative response to native title, the Native Title Act (C'th) 1993 and the establishment of the National Native Title Tribunal (NNTT), Aboriginal Representative Bodies and the Indigenous Land Corporation (ILC); the mediation process and cross-cultural negotiations with Aboriginal native title holders.
