LAW130: Criminal Law and Procedure

Examines the principles of criminal responsibility in Western Australia as set out in the Criminal Code, aspects of the law relating to criminal procedure in Western Australia, and the social context within which criminal law operates. Homicide, nonfatal offences against the person and offences against property are covered. Defences such as mistake, insanity, intoxication, provocation and self defence are examined. Criminal Procedure topics: process to compel appearance before the courts, bail, summary trials, committal proceedings and trial of indictable offences.
