LAW120: Research and Writing

This unit provides students with the fundamental skills necessary for success in the study of law and, ultimately, success in a legal career. It deals with the use of clear writing (or 'plain English') in law essays, legal correspondence, and legal documents. It also covers related areas of law, especially the drafting and interpretation of wills. It will introduce students to fundamental legal research skills (particularly in the use of secondary legal materials), and the ethical aspects of legal scholarship.

Prerequisites	Enrolment in LLB or Juris Doctor.
Exclusions	Students who have successfully completed L171/LEG171 Legal Writing or LEG120 may not enrol in this unit for credit.
