EXM301: Mineral Processing I

This unit deals with aspects of sampling, particle characterisation, comminution and classification, physical processes of mineral concentration involving dense media and gravity separation, magnetic and electrostatic separation and ore sorting techniques. Design of process flow sheets are also examined.

Prerequisites

M131/EXM131 Introduction to Extractive Metallurgy,and M182/MAS182 Applied Mathematics or M161/MAS161 Calculus and Matrix Algebra and EXM224 Principles of Unit Operations OR enrolment in G1034 Graduate Diploma in Extractive Metallurgy.
