ENV522: Techniques for Environmental Impact Assessment

This unit complements and builds upon ENV520 Principles of Environmental Impact Assessment. It provides students with detailed training in advanced techniques used by impact assessment professionals. The main focus is on state-of-the-art methods used internationally for the identification, prediction, and evaluation of impacts. Special attention is paid to the use of geographic information systems and decision support systems for impact evaluation. Techniques used in public participation and project management are also introduced.

Contact Time	Students will be required to attend two intensive one-day sessions on a weekend (Saturday) near the start and middle of the semester. Students will work independently on individual projects during semester. Due to the nature of offering this unit students
Prerequisites	Enrolment in a honours or postgraduate level course. Co-requisite: Internet access if studying externally.
