This unit covers the procedures by which different environments can be managed for different objectives. Case studies illustrate environmental problems and their management, and the unit takes a problem-solving approach. Selected case studies are used to define and understand environmental problems, determine management objectives and develop appropriate management strategies. Case studies may involve environmental management for nature conservation, recreation, or industrial production. The environmental management system approach is also covered and students prepare practical management plans and proposals for assessment.
