ENG455: Operation and Control of Power Systems

This unit studies the fundamental concepts associated with the operation and control of power systems. These concepts include reactive power compensation, economic dispatch, power flows and optimal load flow, stability and protection. A core element of this unit is a significant team project that is carried out under the direction and guidance of consulting professional engineers.

Prerequisites

ENG267 Control Systems and Process Dynamics; Co-requisite ENG347 Electromechanical Energy Conversion, ENG348 Power Transmission and Distribution Networks.
Co-requisite ENG349 Power Electronic Converters and Systems.
