ENG421: Renewable Energy Systems Engineering
This unit covers the design, commissioning and testing of standalone and grid-connected renewable energy systems. Topics: categories of standalone systems, simulation and system design, component sizing, housings and layout, cabling, earthing, commissioning, testing, monitoring, safety and standards; specification, design, impact, cost and performance of grid-connected systems; relevant power system issues; power conditioning for grid applications. The unit will develop a thorough understanding of entire integrated systems as well as providing practical experience with working physical systems.
