ENG243: Circuits and Systems II

This unit provides the necessary skills for the analysis of alternating current (AC) electrical circuits and systems. In particular, it is concerned with the steady-state analysis of circuits with sinusoidal excitation, the different types of power associated with AC circuits, three-phase circuits, magnetically coupled circuits, frequency response, resonance, bandwidth, two port networks, and principles of electromechanics.

Lectures: 2 hours per week; laboratories: 3 hour session per week; workshops: 2 hours per week.

Prerequisites

ENG125 Circuits and Systems 1; MAS161 Calculus and Matrix Algebra.

Exclusions

Students who have successfully completed G126/ENG126 Engineering Electrics may not enrol in this unit for credit.
