EGL215: Design (Not available in 2010)

This unit investigates design from outside its decorative role, establishing it as a 'text' and identifying and expanding the ways in which it functions as a 'performer'. While maintaining a sense of art history and practice, this unit looks at the function of design in areas such as fashion, architecture, art (including graphic and digital art) and ends with participants demonstrating their understanding of the theoretical perspectives, raised by the unit, through a series of practical tasks.
