EDU490: Developments in the Society and Environment Curriculum

The purpose of this unit is to examine the curriculum changes which have recently occurred in the society and environment learning area and to explore the implications of these changes for teaching and learning in primary and secondary schools. The unit is designed for teachers who wish to enhance their own classroom practice in society and environment and for those who wish to undertake a curriculum leadership role in the field.

At least one optional on-campus seminar will be organised by the Unit Coordinator.

| Prerequisites | At least one Society and Environment curriculum unit at the initial teacher education level or above, or teaching experience in the area, or permission of the Unit Coordinator.
For the 600-level version of the unit, enrolment in a Postgraduate qualification or permission of the Unit Coordinator.
For the 400 level version of this unit, pre-service teachers and other undergraduate students will require permission of the Unit Coordinator.
