EDU262: Cultural Mathematics

This unit is designed for future teachers and others interested in mathematics. In order to understand the nature and role of mathematics in our culture, attention will focus on its processes and pedagogy, its history and achievements, its relation to society and culture. Content: number, space, measurement, chance and data and some mathematical modelling. Students in the 200-level offering will complete an additional project related to teaching secondary school mathematics. The unit is supported by extensive online resources.
