EDU242: Learning and Assessment: Theory and Practice

This unit addresses learning and assessment processes at primary, secondary and post-secondary levels of education. It addresses the psychological and educational bases of major theories of learning, aspects of affective and social development, and their implications for educational practice. It also addresses the principles, functions and methods of assessment and evaluation as integral parts of the teaching-learning process, and the use of assessment for diagnostic and decision making purposes and for monitoring the standards and progress of education.

Contact Time	Lectures/workshops: 3 hours per week for 20 weeks.
Prerequisites	Successful completion of EDU101/E101/EDU1011/E1011 or permission of the Unit Coordinators. Co-requisite: Internet access if studying externally.
Exclusions	Students who have successfully completed E245/EDU245 Learning and Assessment Processes may not enrol in this unit for credit.
