EDU113: Introduction to Science

For intending primary or lower secondary school science teachers, or for those who wish to strengthen their knowledge and skills in science. Students will study key unifying themes of science: natural and processed materials; earth and beyond; and energy and change. Emphasis will be on understanding conceptual bases of science. The unit will concentrate on the notion of working scientifically to develop skills in investigating, communicating and evaluating the relevance and importance of science for citizenship.

Contact Time	Lectures: 2 hours per week; tutorials/laboratories: 2 hours per week.
Prerequisites	Nil. Co-requisite: Internet access if studying externally.
Exclusions	This unit is not available to students enrolled in a Science major.
Quota	This unit is subject to quota. Quota is due to limited resources and applies to the Rockingham offering. Preference will be given to students in the BEd (Primary) at Rockingham campus.
