COD545: Community Development Theory and Practice

This unit aims to introduce students to the range of theoretical traditions that have shaped community development practice. In discussing various approaches to practice examples will be drawn from the history of Australian, British and American community work. This advanced unit will also examine recent turns in community development practice and the limitations of new methodologies.

Lectures/workshops: up to 3 hours per week.

Prerequisites

Enrolment in a postgraduate course.
Co-requisite: Internet access if studying externally.

Exclusions

Students who have successfully completed COD125 Introduction to Community Development cannot enrol in this unit.
