CHI681: Principles and Practice of Neuromusculoskeletal Rehabilitation

Introduction to principles and practice of neuromusculoskeletal rehabilitation, emphasising the biopsychosocial model and active care including consideration of the range of factors influencing clinical decision-making such as normal and abnormal function (physiology and pathophysiology), normal and abnormal biomechanics, structure (morphology), pathology, humanistic factors and patient/client assessment. Workshops highlight a practical approach to the physical performance evaluation, sparing strategies, stabilising strategies, assessment and management of muscle imbalance and facilitation of muscular agonist-antagonist co-activation by reflex stimulation methods.

Prerequisites

Enrolment in the Master of Sports Science, Postgraduate Certificate in Neuromusculoskeletal Rehabilitation or Postgraduate Diploma in Neuromusculoskeletal Rehabilitation, or with the permission of the Academic Chair.
Co-requisite: Internet access if studying externally.

Notes

Students enrolled in the Postgraduate Certificate or Postgraduate Diploma in Neuromusculoskeletal Rehabilitation should enrol in CHI6811.
