CHI305: Immunology, Genetics and Microbiology

Introduction to three important areas of consideration for primary contact health care practitioners. The interdependence of genetics, immunology and microbiology will be emphasised. Basic concept of genetics, immunology and microbiology with be presented with consideration of the mechanisms of the immune response and its relationships to infectious microbial agents. Special discussion topics include vaccination, regulation of immunity, and the effects of excesses and deficiencies on the immune response. Project work and seminars will be required for completion of the unit.

Prerequisites

Enrolment in Chiropractic and successful completion of Years 1 and 2.
